CONFERENCE OF PARIS (COP21)

We were asked by the World Health Organization’s Public health, environmental and social determinants of health (PHE) department to create a back drop to go along with a 3d poster that had been created for the COP21 conference (#cop21) in Paris. The goal was to create something that did not distract from the focus, the 3d floor poster created by master artist and architect Kurt Wenner, but I wanted to introduce something interesting and engaging vs a non-engaging piece.

SPAIN-PHOTO

Understanding the brief, we started with a photo that I had taken recently on a trip to Spain, which ironically had windmills, mountains and cityscapes, which seemed to sync well with the Sustainable Innovation Forum (SIF15) initiative. We went through several modifications of the art work as we needed to have one side of the image to represent clean skies, and the other representing a more polluted sky. What appears in the portfolio is a range of options we made available for the client. The final version is below and is 3m x 2m.

CONTROLLED TEMPERATURE CHAIN FILMS

The 3-episode film on the Controlled Temperature Chain (CTC), now live.

Keith A. Brown Designs (KABD) provided cover designs for the (CTC) video series, and determined the foundation of the overall design and layout of the graphic and 2d animation package for the 3 video modules of this series in both English and French versions.

The first episode explains what CTC is, why it is useful and how it is feasible. The second features a case study of CTC implementation during a vaccination campaign in Côte d’Ivoire, providing insight on the health workers’ perspective. The third and final episode gives an outlook on the options for countries and what manufacturers can do to support countries.

We are grateful to the partners that allow us to do such work. Check them out.

Ligtas sa Tigdas Campaign 2014 Philippines

On August 28, 2014, I traveled from Geneva, Switzerland to Manila, Philippines and spent a day in the field with the World Health Organization (WHO), monitoring the Philippines Operation Ligtas sa Tigdas Campaign 2014. President Benigno S. Aquino III of the Philippines, led the launching of “Ligtas sa Tigdas at Polio,” a Mass Immunization Campaign spearheaded by the Department of Health (DOH) that aims to help lessen the growing cases of measles, as well as to make the Philippines a polio-free country.

The campaign intends to help the health department to achieve the Millenium Development Goal of reducing child mortality rate in the nation through free vaccines. The government planned to vaccinate an approximate 11 million children during the month of September 2014, aged between nine months old to five years old, against measles. Likewise, 13 million children would acquire free vaccination against polio.

All of the photos from my day of shooting were taken in Quezon City, one of the cities that make up Metro Manila, the NCR of the Philippines, on the island of Luzon. It is the most populous city in the country, and the largest city by area in Metro Manila, with many areas that are hard to reach, making many kids vulnerable to diseases that are preventable.

Enjoy this image, one of my favorite shots, and a few others from a hot, rainy and sweat filled day of shooting. #ligtassatigdas
