Job Overview

Georgetown University's Berkley Center for Religion, Peace, and World Affairs ("the Center") is collaborating with the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation for the Women Faith Leaders Fellowship (WFLF). The program, following a successful pilot cohort in 2022-2023, is dedicated to guiding the leadership development of Catholic sisters in select African countries. Focused on women's empowerment and gender equity, the WFLF aims to cultivate leadership capacity, integrate sisters' work in specific contexts, foster community impact, promote women's empowerment, and develop a scalable fellowship model. The program includes a robust set of activities, such as a Women Faith Leaders Certificate, launch events, DC-based training, virtual engagements, alumnae networking, capstone projects, mentorship, and optional additional networking and travel opportunities.

Monitoring, evaluation, and learning are key components, ensuring a clear understanding of the program's effectiveness and the potential for scalability and replication. The WFLF's holistic approach aims to empower Catholic sisters as influential leaders championing positive change in their communities and beyond.

Job Overview

The Senior Project Manager oversees and manages the overall program in collaboration with the Principal Investigator and Co-PI, including curriculum development and relationships with faculty, institutional components including finance, HR, compliance, and other administrative operations. They also manage relationships with grant agencies in collaboration with center leadership, reporting, and evaluation/assessment; supervise one staff member; and serve as the primary point of contact for the project.

Work Interactions

Reporting to the Center's Executive Director, the Senior Project Manager works collaboratively with, and under the strategic direction of, the Principal Investigator and Co-PI(s).

They work closely with the leadership team of the Center, which includes the Director, Director of Administration and Strategic Projects, Communications Manager, and Director of Events; and interact with program participants/fellows, Berkley Center and other Georgetown faculty, staff, students - and with external partners and grantors. These interactions take place in person, by phone, by zoom, and via email.

Requirements and Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree - preference for a Master's degree in a related field
  • At least 8 years of management experience in related area
  • Proficiency in Google G-Suite applications
  • Well-developed personal skills, great attention to detail, and excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Ability to plan, analyze and coordinate multiple projects, and to handle multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously while consistently meeting all deadlines
  • Experience in project development and evaluation
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills

The Senior Project Manager will be required to spend two weeks in Washington, DC while hosting the fellows on the Georgetown University campus, and to participate in travel to Africa or other locations to meet and support the fellows.

Sponsored Project Management

The Senior Project Manager is responsible for financial management of the sponsored project to ensure compliance with sponsor's requirements and University's policies and procedures. Within 30 days after the close of the month (generally the 8th business day after the end of the month), the duties to be performed by the employee include, but not limited to:
  • Review and reconcile expenses made with grant funds to ensure that the expenses are a) allowable by the sponsor for the project, b) allocable to the project, c) reasonable and necessary, d) supported by required documents, and e) within the budgeted amounts;
  • Process all corrections and adjustments within 90 days of when the charge initially posts to the financial system (posted date for non-payroll and pay period end date for payroll transactions) and ensure corrections and adjustments are reviewed and approved according to the signature authority policy and supported by appropriate documents;
  • Complete the Financial Status Report (FSR) worksheets timely and accurately; and ensure that payments to subrecipients are reviewed and processed in a timely manner.
