This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with students with autism spectrum disorders and developmental disabilities in a virtual setting. Your caseload will include 42-48 students across grades 3-8, with emphasis on social skills development, communication enhancement, and academic progress aligned with individualized education plan objectives.
Work Schedule: 37.5 hours per week Grade Range: Elementary to Middle School (3-8) Student Count: 42-48 students Focus Areas: Autism support, developmental disabilities, social skills training, and communication development
You'll create structured, predictable virtual learning environments that support students with autism and other developmental needs. Daily responsibilities include implementing evidence-based interventions, collecting behavioral and academic data, and coordinating with related service providers such as speech therapists and occupational therapists.
Parent training and support represent significant aspects of this role, as you'll provide families with strategies for reinforcing learning objectives at home. Regular virtual meetings with parents ensure consistent implementation of behavioral supports and academic accommodations.
Curriculum modification and adaptation skills are essential, as you'll transform grade-level content into accessible formats that meet diverse learning styles and cognitive abilities. You'll also maintain detailed records of student progress and intervention effectiveness.
This role requires patience, consistency, and creative problem-solving abilities to address the unique challenges of virtual special education instruction. You'll need excellent interpersonal skills for building rapport with students and families through digital platforms.
