Monday - Friday b/t 8:00 am to 5:00 pm; with weekend call required, 1 on 4 off, Sat and Sun from 8 am to 12:00 pm

 

Job Title: Echo Sonographer Traveler

Location: York Hospital – York, Maine
Schedule: Full-time (40 hours/week)

Position Summary

York Hospital is seeking a travel Echo Sonographer to join our Cardiology Team at our main campus in York, Maine. The Echocardiographer (Echo Tech) supports the delivery of high-quality cardiac imaging and patient care under the supervision of the Practice Providers, Cardiology Director, Lead Echo Tech, and Practice Manager.

This role involves performing and interpreting echocardiographic imaging procedures, ensuring patient safety and comfort, maintaining accurate records, and collaborating with the care team to provide exceptional service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Perform high-quality echocardiographic studies (Transthoracic, Stress, and Transesophageal Echocardiography) according to York Hospital protocols.
• Demonstrate clinical competence in all modalities of echocardiography to ensure accurate diagnostic data for physician interpretation.
• Prepare patients and diagnostic equipment for imaging procedures, explain procedures, and address patient questions.
• Provide patient and caregiver education, serving as an advocate to ensure safety and understanding.
• Maintain current knowledge and competency in echocardiography in accordance with ARDMS and/or CCI standards.
• Deliver excellent customer service and communication in person, by phone, and via supported patient messaging systems.
• Ensure equipment functionality, patient monitoring, study archiving, and inventory management.
• Support the practice through exam room preparation, general cleaning, quality monitoring, and equipment/supply record keeping.
• Exhibit organizational and multitasking skills in a fast-paced environment while remaining calm, personable, and professional.
• Collaborate effectively with physicians, the Practice Manager, clinical staff, and other healthcare team members to ensure smooth patient care flow.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

• Proficiency in all adult echocardiography imaging modalities, including:
  • Transthoracic Echocardiography (TTE)
  • Stress Echocardiography
  • Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE)
• BLS (Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers) certification — current or obtained within the preliminary employment period.
• Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills.
• Commitment to infection control, safety standards, and continuous quality improvement.

Preferred:

• Registered Cardiac Sonographer through ARDMS (R.D.C.S.) or CCI (R.C.S.).
• If not currently registered, must obtain registry within one (1) year of employment.
