Responsibilities Create and maintain software tools in support of surgical robotics as part of a collaborative agile team Design and develop software tools in C++ and/or JavaScript that interface with Hugo robots and perform critical support and diagnostic functions as efficiently and reliably as possible. Develop requirements with a cross-functional team to define the behavior of Hugo’s software tools Triage defects, develop software unit tests, and review the testing team’s software verification protocols Analyze the software for failure modes and develop solutions that mitigate risk Contribute updates to your team’s software documentation and architecture Improve the quality of your team’s software through design reviews, and ensure your work complies with the procedures of the organization’s quality management system Join an Agile Scrum team that collaboratively plans sprints, improves the quality of the team's backlog of tickets, and defines and completes tasks Role requires in-person in-office presence at least 4 days per week unless eligible for reasonable accommodation Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree with 4 years of relevant experience or Advanced degree with 2 years of relevant experience. At Least One of the Following: Experience developing software in C/C++, including object-oriented and functional programming Experience developing software in JavaScript or related framework Experience developing for Windows applications Nice to Have Medical Device Experience Experience developing software for commercial products, preferably in regulated industries Experience with medical product development is highly desired, including knowledge of regulatory processes such as IEC 62304, safety considerations, and hands-on experience with medical devices and surgical instruments Knowledge of biomedical engineering Strong knowledge of computer science, including how embedded systems, operating systems, and compilation work Experience using common software development tools on Linux, including the Bash shell, build automation (CMake preferred), code coverage, unit testing, static analysis, debugging, and source control (Git preferred) Experience using generative AI as a software development tool is a plus Strong interpersonal skills and attention to detail, with ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to build consensus and establish common goals Experience working with diverse teams across the globe Fluency in English Physical Job Requirements The statements describe the general nature and level of work performed by employees assigned to this position, but are not an exhaustive list of all the required responsibilities and skills of this position.
