Job purpose

The Pharmacist is responsible for oversite and management of the on-site pharmacy, repository, and medication assistance program development.

Duties and responsibilities

• Repository management including ordering and checking in repository meds, record keeping and procedures, script verification, incident reporting, drug recall notifications, destroying expired medications, KTRACS, KDHE reporting, accounting reports
• Drug inventory management for repository, samples, and clinic administered medications
• Ordering clinic vaccines and therapeutic injections, maintaining efficient inventory levels, returning unused/expired medications, managing wholesalers
• Provide oversight to pharmacists, lead pharmacy technician, pharmacy students and volunteers
• Collaborate with physician and non-physician providers on best prescribing practices, drug alternatives, best pricing options, and MAP program information
• Manage medication and vaccine billing formularies
• Manage 340B program and audits by ensuring CaptureRx and Walgreens have up to date patient and provider files to generate revenue from contract pharmacies through the 340B program (including management of ReferDoc program)
• Monitor manufacturer refunds, 340B pricing catalogs and contracts, manufacturer notifications, and access the Apexus program’s comprehensive compliance database and audit assist tools
• Manage vaccine ordering and rebate programs
• Lead development of in-house pharmacy including pharmacy management system selection, workflow, policies, and procedures, staffing numbers etc.
• Patient counseling, drug information for staff, medication therapy management, and hospital discharge transition of care

Qualifications

• Pharmacist licensure
• Minimum five (5) years’ health care experience preferred
• Customer service oriented; patient centered focus that promotes minimizing barriers to obtaining medications for patients
• Ability to prepare reports and perform data analysis
• Ability to interface with other department managers
• Ability to organize, communicate, and perform detailed functions
• Computer skills to navigate Microsoft products and EHR software; eClinicalWorks experience preferred
• Organizational skills
• Physically able to stand, sit, ambulate, has dexterity in hands
• Good communication skills in speaking and in writing
• Must be able to work well with others in a close environment

Working conditions

• Located in a busy medical clinic
• Work in close physical proximity to other people including staff, patients, and visitors

Physical requirements

• Requires sufficient visual acuity to be able to read and write and operate equipment common to this position
• Required to read, write and speak English
• Requires sufficient hearing level to be able to effectively communicate with people directly or by telephone
• Occasionally lift items weighing up to 25 pounds

DETAILS

• Schedule: Full-time non-exempt (hourly).
  • Hours Mon-Friday 8:00AM - 7:00PM (as needed) (average 40 hours/week)
  • Shifts are typically 8 hours.

• Location: Heartland Community Health Center at River City (1312 W 6th)
