PART-TIME KIDS' LIBRARY ASSISTANT

A Typical Day Might Involve:

Providing library services to children from birth through eighth grade and their adults
Helping children and adults discover amazing library materials and providing fun reading suggestions
Planning and presenting storytimes and other programs including scout visits and school field trips
Keeping the library collection fresh by ordering new materials, retiring old ones, and creating booklists and displays
Promoting library collections, programs, and services by attending community events
Working with the middle school team to provide programming and services to middle schoolers in the library and at the schools

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED
Strong public service skills
Ability to communicate effectively
Flexible at adapting to and using various technology platforms
At least one year experience working with children

Weekly Hours: 18

Schedule:

Mondays 9 a.m. -5 p.m., Tuesdays 9 a.m. -5 p.m., and Thursdays 5-9 p.m. Participates in the weekend rotation. Saturdays 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Sundays 1-5 p.m. 1 out of 5 weekends

May work occasional Friday nights for programs or coverage

Hourly Rate: $17.95 - 22.44
