PART-TIME KIDS' LIBRARY ASSISTANT

A Typical Day Might Involve:

• Providing library services to children from birth through eighth grade and their adults
• Helping children and adults discover amazing library materials and providing fun reading suggestions
• Planning and presenting storytimes and other programs including scout visits and school field trips
• Keeping the library collection fresh by ordering new materials, retiring old ones, and creating booklists and displays
• Promoting library collections, programs, and services by attending community events
• Working with the middle school team to provide programming and services to middle schoolers in the library and at the schools

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED
• Strong public service skills
• Ability to communicate effectively
• Flexible at adapting to and using various technology platforms
• At least one year experience working with children

Weekly Hours: 18

Schedule:

Mondays 9 a.m. -5 p.m., Tuesdays 9 a.m. -5 p.m., and Thursdays 5-9 p.m. Participates in the weekend rotation. Saturdays 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Sundays 1-5 p.m. 1 out of 5 weekends

May work occasional Friday nights for programs or coverage

Hourly Rate: $17.95 - 22.44
