Definition: Under general supervision from a Building Maintenance Supervisor, performs a variety of cleaning, maintenance, and minor repair activities in tribally owned buildings in the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community. This job class is treated as FLSA non-exempt.
Essential Functions : (Essential functions may vary among positions, but may include the following tasks, knowledges, abilities, skills and other characteristics. This list of tasks is ILLUSTRATIVE ONLY and is not intended to be a comprehensive listing of tasks performed by all positions in this classification.) Examples of Tasks

1.Performs a variety of building maintenance and repair tasks, including changing light bulbs, painting, basic carpentry, installing/repairing plumbing and electrical fixtures; cleans out clogged drains and sewer lines. Tracks and maintains work requests utilizing work order software as needed.
2.Installs/repairs heating and cooling systems in SRDOC facility and replace non-working parts; runs electrical wiring to provide new circuits or replace inadequate circuits.
3.Maintains safe and clean working environment by ensuring all work areas are clean, free of all tools, parts and equipment before leaving SRDOC. Oversees maintenance subcontractors while working within SRDOC.
4.Performs other related job duties, as assigned, that enhance and facilitate operations.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics:
•Knowledge of building maintenance and repair procedures and practices.
•Knowledge of basic carpentry practices.
•Knowledge of basic plumbing installation, maintenance, and repair practices. 
•Knowledge of basic electrical system installation, maintenance, and repair practices.
•Knowledge of basic heating and cooling system installation, maintenance, and repair practices. 
•Knowledge of hazards and safety precautions associated with building maintenance, installations and repairs. 
•Knowledge of welding, commercial locks and cylinders, energy management systems (EMS).
•Knowledge of commercial fire alarm systems.
•Skill completing basic commercial building maintenance/repair and remodeling projects. 
•Skill installing, maintaining, and repairing heating and cooling systems. 
•Skill installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical circuits, and commercial lighting fixtures.
•Skill installing, maintaining, and repairing commercial plumbing fixtures, valves, and piping.
•Skill following oral and written instructions and procedures.
•Skill establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other staff and the public.
•Ability to move heavy objects between 20-50 pounds or more long distances (more than 20 feet).
•Ability to use work order software to track work order requests.
•Ability to bend or stoop repeatedly or continually.
•Ability to work in cramp spaces and dusty, unclean conditions.
•Ability to reach high work areas by climbing, ladders, steps, or using scaffolding.
•Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the elements.
•Ability to lift arms above shoulder to perform work tasks. 
•Ability to read and use blueprints, layouts, or visual aids.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Education & Experience : Graduation from high school or GED equivalent and experience equivalent to two (2) years full time building maintenance or repair work; OR completion of a post high school program in Building Maintenance or one of the construction trades may substitute for one year of the required experience.
  • For enrolled Community members without a GED, must obtain a GED. Requires participation in the HR GED Program and successful completion of the Arizona state certified exam in order to continue employment with SRPMIC.

  • Equivalency – Any equivalent combination of training and experience that would enable the candidate to satisfactorily perform and meet the duties and responsibilities required may be considered in meeting the stated minimum qualifications.
  • Underfill Eligibilit y: An enrolled Community Member whom closely qualifies for the minimum qualifications for a position may be considered for employment under SRPMIC Policy 2-19, Underfill
Special Requirements
  • Successful completion of an extensive background investigation and fingerprinting will be required for all candidates considered for hire.
Prior to hire as an employee, applicants will be subject to drug and alcohol testing. Will be required to pass a pre-employment background/fingerprint check.
